New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party leader Rajendra Pal Gautam has resigned from Delhi Cabinet after facing flak over his participation in a mass religious conversion event, where Hindu Gods and Goddesses were denounced.
The video of the programme which was organised on October 5, the day of Dussehra in Delhi, sparked a huge controversy involving the AAP leader and Delhi's Social Welfare Minister Gautam.
The BJP had strongly
criticised Mr Gautam for his participation in the event and demanded his resignation from Kejriwal government. The BJP had accused Mr Gautam and Aam Aadmi Party of hurting sentiments of Hindus and trying to create communal disturbance in the country.
However following the controversy, Mr Gautam issued a clarification, saying he personally respects all the deities and would not even dream of insulting them
