Prime Minister Narendra Modi yesterday said that about seven crore women have availed loan worth three lakh crore rupees in recent years through Mudra Yojana.
Addressing the people of Maharashtra via video-conferencing to release the autobiography of Padma Bhushan awardee, Dr. Balasaheb Vikhe Patil, the Prime Minister said the late leader worked hard to boost the confidence of the poor and to instill a feeling of self-belief and self-reliance.
Stating that Mudra Scheme has enhanced avenues of self-employment in villages, Mr. Modi added that farmers, shepherds and fishermen have been provided with the facility of Kisan Credit Cards
to get easy access to loans from banks. He informed that nearly two and a half crore small farmer families who were earlier deprived of Kisan Credit Card now have this facility.
Meanwhile, Mr. Modi urged citizens not to show any laxity towards COVID-19. Noting that the pandemic continues to rage across Maharashtra and hence needs special attention, Mr. Modi said everyone must wear masks, wash hands regularly and observe social distancing norms. Stating that India will win this battle against coronavirus, the Prime Minister asked citizens to strictly follow guidelines till the time vaccine is available for all.
