Ranchi: With just a few days to go for the first phase of voting in Jharkhand, the police have recovered more than Rs 1 crore cash from two places of the state on Friday. The security forces recovered Rs 60 lakh cash during checking at Satbarba of Palamau district on Friday.
The cash was carried in a Honda City car. Police have detained the driver of the car for interrogation. Around Rs 49 lakh was recovered on Govindpur-Sahebganj national highway at Dhanbad district
from a hotel businessman who was going to Govindpur from Deoghar, the police said.
In both cases police have sought documents for the cash. Two days ago Rs 30 lakh was seized in Palamau district, JMM had alleged that cash belonged to BJP candidate Satyendra Tiwari and his nomination should be cancelled.
The five phase polls in Jharkhand will start from November 30. According to rules, a person can carry a maximum of Rs 50,000 only during elections.
