In Gujarat, an Ahmedabad local court has rejected the regular bail plea of Patidar quota stir leader Hardik Patel in connection with a sedition case. The additional session judge NG Dave pronounced this order which was kept reserved after the completion of hearing on Friday. Hardik Patel’s Counsel Rafiq Lokhandwala said that he will now move to the High Court for bail by the end of this week.
On last Friday, crime branch of Gujarat Police had vehemently opposed the bail of Patidar Anamat Aandolan Samiti leader. It claimed that Hardik Patel’s anti establishment activities to overthrow the
government continued even in the judicial custody and if granted bail he can tamper with the important evidences.
The sedition case was filed against Hardik Patel and five of his aides on 21st October last year. The case was filed under IPC sections 124(A) sedition, 121 (A) for conspiracy to wage war against the government and 120 (b) for criminal conspiracy for their role in the violent agitation which claimed 11 lives.
The charge-sheet in the case was filed on 18th January which also claimed the damage to the property worth over 44 crore rupees during the quota agitation.
