Passengers of a Delhi-bound flight created ruckus after they were forced to fly in a plane where AC was not working. Passengers complained about it before take off from Bagdogra, West Bengal, and were told it will start after take off.
Air India has ordered an inquiry in the matter.
"AI 880, took off from Bagdogra at 1.50pm on Sunday. Soon after boarding passengers complained of non functioning AC. We have asked the engineering team to submit a report," said an Air India official.
There were over 150 passengers on board some whom also complained of breathing
problem during the journey. In a video that has gone viral, the livid passengers can be seen fanning themselves and complain to the staff onboard about the malfunction.
According to reports when contacted, Air India said that it was a technical matter and an investigation would be initiated.
The embarassment came after the government decided on Wednesday to privatise debt-laden Air India, the first step of a process that could see the government offload an airline struggling to turn a profit in the face of growing competition from low-cost rivals.
