Air India would launch a new direct flight service on the Vijayawada-Mumbai sector from Saturday. The new flight service, numbered AI 599 with a seating capacity of 180 passengers, will be operated daily, to and fro, between the two cities. The plane will depart at 5.45pm from Mumbai to Vijayawada. On its return journey, the flight will depart at 7.10pm from Vijayawada airport to Mumbai.
Machilipatnam MP and Gannavaram airport advisory committee chairman Vallabhaneni Balashouri had requested the Union civil
aviation ministry for a direct flight service linking Vijayawada and Mumbai. The ministry issued an order to this effect a day ago. The new flight service will be inaugurated at the hands of Balashouri at the Gannavaram airport on Saturday.
The new direct flight service will prove beneficial to the people of Vijayawada, Guntur, Ongole, Eluru and the other neighbouring towns. Many people from the central Andhra region travel to Mumbai for business purposes.
