Visakhapatnam: AirAsia has started direct flights between Visakhapatnam and Bangkok commencing Tuesday. It becomes the second international airline to introduce an overseas flight from Visakhapatnam since the Covid-19 pandemic.
The first international flight from Visakhapatnam had been Scoot, which flew to Singapore. AirAsia will operate flights to Bangkok three times a week – Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The flight will leave Bangkok at 10:05 p.m. and arrive in Visakhapatnam at 11:20 p.m. It will take off from
Visakhapatnam at 11:50 p.m. and reach Bangkok at 4:15 a.m. the next day.
The inaugural flight to Bangkok had a high passenger load of 80 per cent. Ticket prices are budget friendly, ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 23,000. Kishore (AirAsia's South and West India regional manager), Witchunee Kuntapeng (AirAsia's head, Global Guest Services), Vijay Mohan (Tours and Travels Association representative), and Raja Reddy, Visakhapatnam Airport director were present for the inaugural flight.
