All preparations are in place for the counting of votes tomorrow for Maharashtra and Haryana assembly elections. The polling for 288 seats in Maharashtra and 90 in Haryana was held in a single-phase on Monday.
In Maharashtra, 61 per cent polling was recorded by the end of the day. Our Mumbai correspondent reports that the term of Maharashtra Assembly ends on 9th of next month.
The fate of 3,237 candidates, including 235 women candidates in the fray for Maharashtra Assembly elections will be decided tomorrow when counting of votes will be taken up. Heavy police bandobast has been made at various counting centres across the state. Besides, in the
three-tier security system, the 1,12,328 used EVMs and VVPAT machines are under 24-hour CCTV surveillance.
The Administration too has geared up for counting of votes. In all, 48 counting centres have been set up in the headquarters of all the Assembly constituencies. The entire counting process will be video recorded.
In Haryana, re-polling is underway at one booth each in Uchana, Prithla, Kosli, Been and arnound Assembly segments of Haryana. The re-polling is being held on the direction of the Election Commission. The polling which started at 7 AM will continue till 6 in the evening.
