Allahabad HC cancels recruitment process of sub inspectors in UP

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court cancelled the recruitment process of about four thousand police sub inspectors initiated by the state government. The court has directed the state government to conduct the written exam afresh and complete the selection process. 

The UP Police Recruitment & Promotion Board had advertised the posts of four thousand ten police Sub Inspectors in 2011. Allegations were made by candidates about widespread irregularities in the



examination. Hearing a petition, the single bench cancelled the whole selection process and ordered the re examination to complete the recruitment.

The petitioner had contended that there was wide range violation of rules and procedures in the exam of SIs which rendered many eligible candidates out of race. He had also contended that in violation of established norm the reservation was given to the candidates which ripped off more vacancies from the general pool.
