In Jammu and Kashmir, the ongoing annual Amarnath pilgrimage has been suspended today due to security reasons. Official sources told that because of anticipated law and order situation in the Kashmir valley, the pilgrimage remained suspended from Bhagwati Nagar Base camp Jammu and no fresh batch of pilgrims was allowed this morning.
However, the down Yatra convoy from Pahalgam and Baltal is being allowed normally. The pilgrimage was restored yesterday after remaining suspended for three days due to bad
weather and security reasons.
Meanwhile, this year's annual pilgrimage to Buddha Amarnath in Mandi area of Poonch commenced today. The first batch of 940 pilgrims left the Bhagwati Nagar Jammu base camp for Poonch in a cavalcade of 22 light and heavy vehicles this morning.
The batch comprising of 715 men and 225 women will reach Poonch this evening and perform darshans of Buddha Amarnathji Temple in Mandi area of the border district tomorrow morning.
