An American Airlines flight from New York to Delhi (AA 292) was diverted to Rome on Sunday after receiving a bomb threat on email. Following the bomb threat, the flight is scheduled to land at the Rome airport for checking. The flight will take off for Delhi after receiving security clearance at the Rome airport, according to sources.
The Boeing 783 Dreamliner departed from the John F. Kennedy
International Airport on February 22. It crossed the Caspian Sea before heading back to Europe following the bomb threat.
The airline released a statement, saying: "AA 292, operating from New York to Delhi, has been diverted to Rome due to a potential security threat onboard."
The airline further assured that they are monitoring the situation closely with the local authorities.
