Union Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah has said that the country’s first cooperative university, Tribhuvandas Patel Cooperative University, will be established soon, and the formal announcement will be made in the upcoming budget. Addressing the inaugural session of the International Year of Cooperatives 2025 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, he urged cooperative societies to maintain discipline and professionalism, emphasizing that inclusive growth of the sector is key to achieving ‘Sahakaar Se Samruddhi.’ 

Mr Shah virtually inaugurated the corporate office of NUCFDC, released the 2025 International Year of Cooperation calendar, and launched



training programs for 10,000 newly formed multipurpose cooperatives, along with a ranking framework for primary societies.

Earlier, Mr Shah addressed the ‘Cooperative Conference’ held in Nashik. He said though farming was considered unprofitable in the past, combining the cooperative movement with scientific advancements can make agriculture a lucrative business today. Mr. Shah also inaugurated multiple initiatives aimed at strengthening the cooperative sector. Union Minister of State for Cooperation Murlidhar Mohol, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, and others were present on the occasion.
