Ahead of the Lok Sabha election results, the Gujarat Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) has announced an increase in the price of Amul milk by Rs 2 per liter, effective from Monday (June 3).
In a press release issued today, the GCMMF said the price hike decision comes amid increase in the overall cost of operation and production of milk. "The increase in prices will affect all three major Amul milk variants: Amul Gold, Amul Taza, and Amul Shakti. However, there has been no change in the price of the Amul Taza small pouch," the GCMMF said.
Further it added that, "The increase of Rs 2 per litre translates to the range of 3-4 per cent increase in MRP which is much lower than the average food inflation. It is worthwhile to note that since February 2023, Amul has made no
increase in prices of fresh pouch milk in major markets."
Meanwhile, Jayen Mehta, MD of GCMMF, which markets the milk and dairy products under the 'Amul' brand, said, "The price of Amul milk across all variants has been raised by Rs 2 per litre with effect from June 3."
New Prices of Amul Milk:
Amul Gold: The price of 500 ml of Amul Gold has increased to Rs 33, while the price of one liter milk packet will rise from Rs 64 to Rs 66.
Amul Buffalo Milk: The price of 500 ml of Amul buffalo milk has increased to Rs 36.
Amul Shakti: The price of 500 ml of Amul Shakti has increased to Rs 30.
Significantly, the last time GCMMF had raised the milk price was in February 2023.
