Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu has said that nine States, other than Andhra Pardesh are demanding the Special Category State status from the Centre. 
He said Chief Ministers of some of these states have written to the Centre in this regard. Accepting that there are certain benefits that come with



the special status, he told media in Vijayawada Sunday that it is not a panacea. 
Mr. Venkaiah Naid said the Finance Commission has come out with some proposals to bridge the revenue deficit of Andhra Pradesh due to bifurcation and the Centre is examining them and a decision would be taken expeditiously.
