Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary orders action against absent doctors

Vijayawada: Chief Secretary K.S. Jawahar Reddy has ordered health authorities to initiate action against doctors who have been absent from duty for long periods of time.

 

The CS reviewed the implementation of several health programmes in the state on Tuesday. He expressed concern over the absence of doctors from government hospitals, at a time when the state government is giving top priority to providing healthcare to the people.

 

He directed the health authorities to identify doctors who have been absent from duty for more than 30 days without permission and



to initiate disciplinary action against them.

Health special chief secretary M.T. Krishna Babu said that they had identified a number of doctors who had been absent from duty for long periods of time. He said that notices had been served to them and that action would be taken against them if they did not report to duty within a week.

 

He also said that the works on the five new medical colleges coming up in Vizianagaram, Rajamahendravaram, Eluru, Machilipatnam, and Nandyal were going on at a brisk pace.
