Andhra Pradesh CM Nara Chandrababu Naidu visits flood hit areas in Vijayawada

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu visited flood-hit areas in Vijayawada yesterday, inspecting the situation by boat. He reassured affected residents, promising government support and instructing officials to prioritise the evacuation of vulnerable individuals to safe locations.

The Chief Minister held several high-level review meetings today on the rains and flood situation across the state. He said that the state has witnessed unprecedented rainfall, with some districts experiencing over 60% more than average rains. He emphasised that the government’s foremost responsibility during these challenging times is to protect the lives of its citizens. He stressed the need to supply essential items like food, water, candles, and flashlights immediately from all available sources. Mr. Naidu emphasised that no efforts should be spared in assisting every affected individual.

The Chief Minister ordered an immediate assessment of crop damage as floodwaters recede. He assured that every farmer affected by the floods will receive fair compensation. Additionally, home and livestock losses will be carefully evaluated. He said that the state government will send detailed damage assessments to the central government for additional



support.

The Andhra Pradesh government is making all efforts to bring normalcy to the flood-affected regions across the state. NDRF and state agencies are working in tandem to provide relief and rehabilitation in the flood-affected regions. Our correspondent has more details.

Andhra Pradesh is recovering from the trail of destruction caused by very heavy rainfall, which led to nine casualties and crop damage in about one lakh twelve thousand hectares. The state government is working on war footing to provide relief measures for flood-impacted areas in Vijaywada inundated due to a breach in the Budameru River.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu visited the flood and directed officials to provide food, water, and essential medicines. Mr. Naidu also spoke to Home Minister Amit Shah, who assured him that six teams of NDRF, 40 power boats, and 6 helicopters will be sent to Vijaywada to provide for relief and rehabilitation measures. 

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Naidu said that he will be camping in his bus at the NTR district collectorate in Vijaywada to monitor the situation throughout the nigh. Schools and colleges in the state will remain closed today in view of the prevailing flood situation.
