Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh medical, health and family welfare department is all set to launch a two-month long "Stop Diarrhoea" campaign across the state, starting July 1. This special programme aligns with directives from the ministry of health and family welfare. Dr S. Venkateswar, the commissioner for health and family welfare, has issued instructions to all district health & medical officers (DM&HOs) to ensure smooth implementation of the initiative.
The campaign
aims to significantly reduce deaths caused by diarrhoeal diseases. The "Stop Diarrhoea" programme will be conducted in two phases. The first phase, a collaborative effort between the state and central governments, ran from June 14 to 30. The second phase, led by the state government, kicks off on Monday and continues until August 31. The health department will distribute ORS packets to children under five years old through Asha workers, ANMs, and CHOs.
