Amaravati: The state govt has decided to launch Jagananna Amma Vodi scheme for the academic year 2020-21 on January 9 to provide financial assistance of Rs 15,000 a year to each mother or recognised guardian of children below poverty line studying from Class I to Class XII in all recognised government, private aided and private unaided schools including residential and junior colleges.

Principal secretary, school education, B Rajasekhar issued orders on Monday to this effect on. The GO said the scheme



is aimed at enhancing the access of children to schools, to assure quality education, increase regular attendance and to achieve better learning outcome and for overall development of children from Class I to Class XII. 

He said the annual income of the family should not exceed Rs 10,000 per month in rural areas and Rs 12,000 a month in urban areas and the family land holdings should not exceed three acre of wet land and 10 acre dry land.
