Annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2024 To Formally Begin On June 29

The 52-day long annual pilgrimage to the holy cave shrine of Shri Amarnath ji commenced this morning from both Pahalgam and Baltal routes in Kashmir valley amid tight security. The Yatra will come to an end on 19th of August on the auspicious occasion of Shravan Purnima. The Union Territory Administration has made elaborate security arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the yatra this year.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha attended an event organised by civil society, trade fraternity and citizens, in Srinagar yesterday to welcome pilgrims of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra.

In his address, the Lt Governor lauded the significant contribution of the people of Jammu Kashmir in smooth and successful conduct of the annual holy yatra.

Mr Sinha said people feel privileged to be part of holy pilgrimage and contribute



to make the journey safe and a truly fulfilling spiritual experience. He said the spiritual journey to the holy cave is the symbol of faith and unity and for centuries, it has been the collective responsibility of the civil society to make every step of this journey blissful.

Interacting with various stakeholders, the Lt Governor highlighted the important role of civil society groups, trade bodies and local citizens in the hassle-free pilgrimage. He urged them to come forward and welcome the devotees of Shri Amarnath Ji coming from across the country and abroad.

Meanwhile, the first batch of Yatris who arrived in the twin bases camps at Nunwan and Baltal yesterday have proceeded towards the holy cave of Shri Amarnath Ji in south Kashmir Himalayas in the early hours today.
