Anti-drug campaign rattles ISI, forces smugglers to retreat: Punjab DGP

Punjab’s Director General of Police (DGP), Gaurav Yadav claims that the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ has rattled Pakistan’s ISI, which is now devising other strategies to destabilise the border state. He warned that exemplary punishment would be given to those trying to disturb the peace and harmony of the state.

He revealed that the decisive campaign has forced drug couriers and smugglers to retreat, with many refusing to pick up consignments dropped by Pakistan-based operatives, which led to a sharp decline in the supply of



heroin from across the border.

Mr Yadav said that in the last 17 days of the campaign, State Police has arrested 2,575 drug smugglers after registering 1651 first information reports (FIRs) and have recovered 95 kg heroin, Cocaine and other drugs besides over 7 lakh intoxicant tablets/injections. Rs 64 lakh drug money has also been recovered.

He said victims of drug addiction are not being harassed unnecessarily and are being admitted to de-addiction centres for treatment.
