Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced on Wednesday that global tech giant Google and Andhra Pradesh are embarking on a major artificial intelligence (AI) initiative in Visakhapatnam.

Addressing a district collectors’ conference at the state secretariat, Naidu revealed that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) had been signed to pave the way for transformative development in the port city.

“Recently, when IT Minister Nara Lokesh went to America, he visited the Google campus and made a request. The result of that is today we have an agreement with Google. We signed an MoU before coming here. We are looking at a big opportunity in AI,” he

said.

The Chief Minister shared that Google executives conducted a firsthand survey of Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh's largest city, and were thoroughly impressed with its potential as a strategic location.

“If big firms like Google come to Visakhapatnam under strategic investment, that is a game changer,” Naidu said, adding that AI, machine learning (ML), deep tech, data centers, and internet sea cables will transform the coastal city into a global service hub.

Highlighting the strategic importance of Visakhapatnam, Naidu noted that Google has identified Andhra Pradesh as a key partner in its ambitious plans for India.
