Vijayawada: Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu would release a white paper on AP’s power sector at the Secretariat on Tuesday afternoon. The CM held a review with senior officials on the power sector on Monday. Though the officials came up with a presentation on the power sector, the CM was not happy with it, sources said. Sources said the officials were asked to prepare a detailed report on the power sector’s performance in AP from 2014 to `19 and balance this against the sector’s performance from 2019 to 2024.

The CM called for vetting of the draft paper on power sector before releasing it. The CM is learnt to have sought a comparison of the details on the power purchase agreements, the nine-hour supply of quality power especially to the farm sector, the budget allocations to the power sector, the expenditure incurred by the state to strengthen the power infrastructure and a host of other

details, vis-a-vis the two governmental terms.

Naidu would release the white paper after the draft paper on the power sector is vetted appropriately by tomorrow. The Chief Minister would attend a state-level bankers’ committee meeting at the AP Secretariat at about noon. Bankers may be advised to be generous while sanctioning loans to the beneficiaries of various welfare schemes, with an assurance that the beneficiaries would be encouraged to clear their previous loans. Naidu also enquired about the relief being provided to the victims of a mishap at a cement factory at Jaggaiahpeta in NTR district on Sunday.

He advised the officials to release an ex gratia of Rs.50 lakh to the deceased, Rs. 25 lakh to the severely injured and Rs.5 lakh to the injured. One person died and 15 others were injured in the mishap.
