The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N.Chandrababu Naidu, expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident at the Escientia Pharma Company in Atchutapuram, which claimed 17 lives and left several others with severe injuries.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister stated that this unfortunate event is a grave example of the repercussions when industries fail to follow proper safety protocols, which must be a top priority. The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and assured them of comprehensive support from the government. He announced an immediate financial assistance package of 1 crore
rupees for the families of the deceased, 50 lakh rupees for those severely injured, and 25 lakh rupees for those with minor injuries.
The Chief Minister stressed that while financial compensation can be provided, the loss of lives is irreplaceable. He emphasized the necessity of balancing industrial development with stringent safety measures, highlighting that negligence in following standard operating procedures (SOPs) should not be tolerated. The Chief Minister announced the formation of a High-Level Inquiry Committee to thoroughly investigate the causes of the accident.
