Vijayawada:The Andhra Pradesh High Court has ordered the Election Commission to take a decision by Friday on a plea from Macherla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy. The MLA’s request was to keep Guntur range IG Sarvasreshta Tripathi, SP Mallika Garg and Karampudi CI Narayana Swamy away from the poll duty for Macherla assembly segment.
A division bench of Justices Satti Subba Reddy and Venkata Jyothirmai Pratapa held the hearing here on Thursday over the “illegal” act of the Election Commission that did not accept his representation seeking a change
of the three police officers.
Petitioner’s counsel Niranjan Reddy argued that the three officers were against his client and were trying not to allow him to take part in the counting of votes by misleading the court. On behalf of his client, counsel urged the court to keep the three officers away from taking up inquiry against his client and also to keep them away from counting duty. Election Commission's counsel Avinash Desai told the court that he would ask the EC to take an appropriate decision.
