AP police bust Cambodia human trafficking racket

The Visakhapatnam police have busted a human-trafficking racket in Cambodia earlier this week and arrested three agents. The traffickers lured Indian youth on pretext of providing jobs and made them commit cyber frauds on Indians. Going into details, the traffickers lured hundreds of Indians on the pretext of providing them jobs in Singapore, but later forced them to commit cyber frauds on Indians. The victims paid Rs 1 lakh each to the agents for the jobs.

According to the police, the handlers in India transported the victims via Bangkok or Singapore and handed them to agents in Cambodia for a hefty ransom. The agent then shifted the victims to an area called 'Poipet' where they trained them on cyber



frauds. The Embassy of India, Phnom Penh has released a statement on the issue. "The Embassy has been issuing cautions to Indians seeking jobs in Cambodia to not to fall prey to unauthorised agents, the Embassy is in contact with Cambodian authorities and providing necessary assistance, read the release. 

The matter has been taken up with Cambodian authorities at the highest level for immediate repatriation, the people who have reached out to us have been subsequently evacuated from Jinbei-4 on May 20, the release added.
