Vijayawada: Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Kumar Meena has said that applications received till December 9, 2023, have been processed as part of the preparation of the final list of voters for the upcoming general elections in AP.
"Applications received after that will be resolved by January 12. Action has been taken to revise the voters list without any scope for confusion," he said.
Meena said issues of dead voters, duplicate cases and vote transfer applications were resolved through a house-to-house survey. "We removed 5,64,819 names based on the complaints received from political parties. In some constituencies, there have been complaints that a huge number of applications are being made online. We have registered an FIR against 13 people who are fraudulently reaching voters through Form 7 in Kakinada city. Six people who have filed maliciously in Guntur West constituency."
The CEO explained, "We have filed cases under IPC and IT Acts in Chandragiri constituency. We have taken action against 24 BLOs who committed violations there. Ten FIRs have been registered in Parchur. In cases where there are zero door numbers and more than 10 voters in the
same house, we have completed the checks in 97 per cent of these and revised the voters list."
"Instances of voters of the same family shifting to different polling centres have been reported in Visakhapatnam and NTR districts," explained Meena.
NTR district collector Dilli Rao said that the district administration is all set to conduct the two-day meeting of the ECI regarding the Special Summary Revision of Voters List – 2024 from January 9 to 10 in Vijayawada.
Dilli Rao along with Mukhesh Meena inspected the preparatory arrangements at a hotel in Vijayawada on Monday.
On the first day, January 9, ECI officials would meet the recognised political party leaders from 10 am to 12 noon. All district collectors and SPs would give a powerpoint presentation on the elections' preparations so far.
