In Assam, the army has been deployed in Guwahati city after student protests took a violent turn last night. An indefinite curfew was imposed in the city last night. Curfew was also imposed in Dibrugarh district. The Deputy Commissioner informed that the army is holding a flag march.

Thousands of students gathered in Guwahati yesterday, protesting against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill,



2019. The protesters also damaged vehicles. Police resorted to lathi-charge and used tear gas to disperse them. 

However, no untoward incident has been reported from Guwahati or any other place so far. Internet services were shut down in 10 districts for 24 hours since 7 pm yesterday. Train and vehicular movement is affected due to the protests.
