The Indian Army has been actively involved in extensive flood relief operations in the villages of Sivaguri at Dhemaji district in Assam and Mer in East Siang district in Arunachal Pradesh, severely affected by incessant rains since 29th last month. The Indian Army deployed multiple flood relief columns in the affected areas and along with State Disaster Relied Forces (SDRF)
conducted rescue and relief operations at Sivaguri, Namsing Ghat, Paglam and Orian Ghat for over a period of 72 hours and evacuated 48 citizens, including 17 children, 20 women and 11 elderly citizens. Further, they have also set up temporary shelters, provided meals, water and medical aid to the flood affected victims.
