New Delhi: The Centre yesterday said more than 69 thousand cases are pending in the Supreme Court as of 1st of this month. This is as per the information provided by the Supreme Court of India on its official website.
Replying to a question in the Rajya Sabha yesterday, Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju said
around 60 lakh cases are pending in High Courts across the country as per the information available on National Judicial Data Grid. He said the disposal of pending cases in the Supreme Court and High Courts lies exclusively within the domain of the judiciary. The Central Government has no direct role in the matter.
