In Madhya Pradesh, record 75 percent voting was registered for the Assembly election in the state yesterday.  It is likely to go up after the final tally. The Polling remained by and large peaceful.  The voting figures in the one phased poll was 74.61 percent.

The previous highest was in the 2013 Assembly election when the turnout was 72.69 percent. The voters turned out in large numbers in three constituencies in Naxal affected Balaghat district.

Voting in Madhya Pradesh was mainly peaceful and encouraging for the democracy. There has no news of booth- capturing nor



have any complaints for re-polling. Polling was by-and-large incident free. 

The electoral fate of two thousand eight hundred ninety-nine candidates including Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, leader of opposition Ajay Singh, Suresh Pachaori, Sartaj Singh and many ministers and senior leaders of both the parties was sealed in EVMs on Wednesday. 

The Election Commission announces Rs 10 lakh compensation for the kin of each of the three Election officials who passed away while on election duty in Indore, Dhar and Guna.
