BJP leader Arun Jaitley, who was recuperating in a New York hospital, returned to India on Saturday. During his absence, Piyush Goyal took charge as the interim Finance Minister and presented the Vote on Account Budget on February 1, 2018.
During his time in the hospital, Jaitley was actively putting out blog posts and tweeting in response to opposition’s attack on the government over the Rafale deal.
Jaitley, 66, currently does not hold any portfolio. He underwent a renal transplant last year at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. He headed to the US in January for
treatment.
“Delighted to be back home,” he announced on Twitter Saturday evening.
While in US, took a swipe at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her sit-in protest against Central Bureau of Investigation's (CBI) attempt to interrogate Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar in the Saradha chit fund scam, terming her 'dharna' “disproportionate over-reaction”.
Slamming the Trinamool Congress chief in his blog post titled ‘'The Kleptocrat’s Club', Jaitley also questioned Mamata’s motive behind inviting all other Opposition members to join her on the dharna.
