Arun Jaitley will always be remembered for his visionary initiatives such as GST: Jagdeep Dhankar

New Delhi: Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar said that Arun Jaitley was a large-hearted leader who always respected and gave space to others’ points of view. He said that when Mr. Jaitely was Leader of Opposition, the government was always assured that with a rational mind, your point of view will be appreciated, something we miss today to the detriment of political governance. Vice President Dhankhar made these remarks at the award ceremony of first Arun Jaitley Memorial Debate at Shri Ram College of Commerce in New Delhi

Remembering his long association with Mr. Jaitley, the Vice-President said that as Chairman, of Rajya Sabha he misses him every day. The Vice-President said that he would always be remembered for his visionary initiatives such as Goods and Service Tax. Calling him the main architect of GST, Mr. Dhankhar said that he completed this tough task with great wisdom and patience. He added that Mr. Jaitley created a mechanism that decisions will be taken only with unanimity and during his time there was not a single dissent.
