Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has said that the state has the capacity to generate 50000 MW of hydropower.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Seminar on ‘Prosperity of Arunachal Pradesh through accelerated Hydropower development’ at the DK Auditorium in Itanagar, Mr. Khandu said so far Arunachal is producing only 2 percent of its full potential.
The Chief Minister said that despite being the richest state in the country in
terms of hydropower resources that could overhaul its state of the economy, Arunachal Pradesh still has to depend upon the Center for its sustenance.
The one-day seminar was organized by the state department of Hydro Power Development. Ministers, legislators, scientists and subject experts, research scholars, top bureaucrats, deputy commissioners, forest and environment officials and various other stakeholders participated in it.
