Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnav yesterday said that a total of 157 stations in Uttar Pradesh are being rebuilt under the Amrit Station Scheme, and the railway budget of Uttar Pradesh has been increased by 18 times.
He was speaking on the occasion of the inauguration of the train operation between Pilibhit and Mailani. He participated in the programme this afternoon through virtual medium and also inaugurated the gauge conversion work of the Pilibhit-Shahgarh railway section, done at a
cost of 672 crore rupees.
Minister of State for Railways V Somanna joined the function through virtual medium, while Union Minister of State for Industry, Commerce, and Information Technology Jitin Prasad was present at Pilibhit station and flagged off the train. Mr. Prasad, who is also an MP from Pilibhit, said that Pilibhit is now connected to the country’s rail network. This will create employment opportunities here, and tourism will get wings.
