Assam Assembly has passed 'The Assam Repealing Bill, 2020' to abolish all state-run Madrasas by converting them to general schools.
Opposition Congress and AIUDF staged walkout when their demand for sending the bill to the Select Committee was
rejected.
With the passage of the bill, all madrasas being run under the government will be converted into regular educational institute with effect from 1st of April next year. Yesterday, was the last day of the three-day winter session of the assembly.
