Assam Celebrates World Gibbon Day in Tinsukia District

In Assam, World Gibbon Day is being celebrated in Tinsukia district. The two-day event is being organised by the state government in association with various civil society organisations at Barekuri village. 

Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mann Ki Baat highlighted the unique relationship between the local people



and Hoolock Gibbons at Barekuri village. Barekuri village sought to limelight for the conservation of Hoolock Gibbons as well as for the point of view of tourism. Various events, including seminars, awareness meetings, and competitions, are being organised as a part of the two-day events that began yesterday.
