In Mumbai, People can now withdraw the new currency notes of 500 and 2000 rupees denomination from the ATM machines as it is re-opened for public since midnight last night.
ATM’s remained closed for two days since Tuesday midnight as RBI had to stock the machines with new currency notes after government’s announcement of demonetisation of old 500 and 1000 rupees bank notes. The government has already announced that a person can withdraw up to 2,000 rupees per day through a single card from ATMs till November 18. Thereafter, the limit will be increased to 4,000 rupees per day.

of anxious people made a beeline to banks and post offices yesterday to exchange their old Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes. Most private and public sector bank branches were seen jampacked with customers. With the ATMs now giving out new currency notes, it is expected to ease the queues before the banks and post offices that were witnessed yesterday.
Also many banks have waived off ATM charges till 31st December to handle the impending rush. Meanwhile, all banks have been directed to work for extended hours till Sunday to clear the rush of desperate customers for exchange transactions.
