Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Mr Jayant Sinha has said that aviation sector will drive India's economic growth by providing job opportunities to over 12 lakh people. 

Addressing the Airport Investments Summit organised by Indian Merchant Chambers in Mumbai yesterday, Mr. Sinha said, the sector is growing at 12 percent annually and the government’s plan for expansion of airport infrastructure and regional connectivity



will further drive this sector. 

He added that the government is planning to construct 31 new airports with an investment of 200 crore rupees.Mr. Sinha said, policy initiatives like allowing 100 percent FDI and passenger centric measures like the air seva portal; Digi Yatra and UDAN reflects the government’s commitment to aviation’s growth with a special emphasis on regional connectivity.
