Four Hindu men were detained by police on Thursday, a day after Bajrang Dal workers in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, hurled derogatory slogans in front of a movie theater.

The previous day, employees of the Bajrang Dal staged a demonstration in opposition to the release of Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film Pathaan.

“We are keeping an eye on fake news that disrespects any religion,” Indore's police commissioner Harinarayanachari Mishra stated in an interview with the media. Those who post such information to disrupt city peace will be punished severely.

Penal Code's sections 295(A) (Deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs), 153(A) (Promoting enmity between different groups on the basis of religion, race, place of birth, and residence), 505 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), and 34 (Acts done by multiple individuals in furtherance of common intention) have been used to file a case.

On Wednesday, members of the Bajrang Dal yelled provocative slogans in opposition to the Prophet Muhammad, such as "Mohammed tere baap ka naam ‘JaiShriRam,' Desh ke gaddaro ko.. goli maaro."
