Situation in Udaipur continues to remain volatile after Thursday's violence in which more than two dozen people were reportedly injured.
The police had to resort to lathicharge to disperse the violent mob protesting in support of murder accused Shambulal Raigar.
The crowd pelted stones injuring several police personnel. One of them, a constable, sustained severe head injury and had to receive seventeen stitches. The injured included one Additional SP, two Deputy SPs, and four Inspectors.
Meanwhile, out of the
around 200 people arrested by the police, 153 were released on personal bond. The remaining arrested will be produced in court on Saturday.
Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal had taken out a silent march in the district on Friday.
They had demonstrated outside the Collectorate, handed over a memorandum to the district collector and demanded release of all the arrested people.
The unruly mob had turned violent and ran amok on Thursday despite the imposition of Section 144 in the district.
