Bengaluru: Civic action groups protest by painting CM Siddaramaiah's pictures near potholes

It's not just Bengaluru that has been plagued with potholes. The city of Mangaluru, too, has seen the craters coming up.

So, both the cities found a unique way to protest, Bengaluru civic action groups painted the pictures of the Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Bangalore development minister KJ george near a big pothole to bring it to the attention of the government.

In another off-beat attempt, the locals in Mangaluru along with AAP activists flyer paper boats and placed fishing nets to highlight the plight of the potholes. Nav Bharat, a civic action group, identified two locations in Bengaluru, MG road near the Military canteen and 100 feet Indiranagar to stick the pictures of the Siddaramaiah and KJ george.

People in Bengaluru found it quite interesting and several took selfies with the pothole.

The Bengaluru development minister KJ George who spoke to India Today said, "We have already started filling up the potholes. We have set a deadline and we will complete it well



within time. The effort is not just to fill potholes but also make our roads ready so that they will last another decade at least. If you have seen our TenderSure project where we have laid cobbled footpaths and white topped, we have set up roads that can handle heavy rains, heavy traffic and also it has accounted for service works by other departments such as the waterworks and electricity department. Give us six months and see how we transform Bengaluru."

The Bruhat Bengaluru Maha nagar Palike commisioner Manjunath Prasad said that the number of identified potholes has reduced and they have filled more than half it then in the city. The rains may hamper work, but the effort is on to fill up all the potholes.

"By Monday all 24 thousand identified potholes will be filled, he said." Meanwhile, in Mangalore, the MCC civic group and AAP staged a protest at the Kankanady Market against the pathetic condition of the market. If that was not all, the locals also held a paper boat competition for kids.
