Bengaluru: In shocking visuals that have emerged from Karnataka's capital Bengaluru on Monday, a protestor driving a car and taking part in Bharat Bandh being enforced across the country today ran over the foot of Deputy Commissioner of Police Dharmender Kumar Meena.
Meena, DCP (North Division), Bengaluru City, was trying to stop the vehicle at Goraguntepalya in which the activist was travelling when the incident happened.

The protestor has been arrested by the police following the incident. The DCP sustained injuries in the incident and was rushed to a hospital.

It may be noted that farmers' unions across the country are observing Bharat Bandh in support of their demand to repeal the three contentious farm laws.

Earlier, the Central government had asked all state governments to ensure the public property is protected and law and order is maintained during the nationwide shutdown called by the Samyukta Kisan

Morcha today for 10 hours starting 6 am.

Officials in the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) said they have been monitoring the situation and were coordinating with state governments. States have been asked to act in a strict manner against protestors who try to disrupt the public order.

MHA officials said the Centre had deployed adequate Central forces in the states to prevent any untoward incidents. Further, extra personnel have been deployed at sensitive locations like railway stations, bus terminus and airports.

The protestors today managed to disrupt train services at several locations in North India as they sat on railway tracks.

Railway officials said services of more than 20 trains were disrupted in the northern zone.

Several political parties, including the Congress, DMK, NCP, Samajwadi Party, Trinamool Congress and the Left parties, have supported the bandh call.
