A report submitted by the Varanasi divisional commissioner has faulted the Banaras Hindu University over the incidents of violent protests that took place on the university campus even as the vice-chancellor of the institution came under fire for reportedly saying that it was just a 'simple' matter of eve-teasing.
In a report to Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar, Varanasi's Divisional
Commissioner Nitin Gokarn has blamed the university administration for the Saturday night violence inside the prestigious Banaras Hindu University (BHU) campus.
Meanwhile, BHU Vice-Chancellor Girish Chandra Tripathi has said, in at least two interviews, that the sexual harassment of a female student at campus - an allegation that led to the massive unrest - was a case of "eve teasing".
