The Bihar cabinet on Tuesday approved a proposal to provide free coronavirus vaccination to people of the state whenever the vaccine is available in the country. In another major development, the cabinet also gave a green signal to a proposal to create 20 lakh job opportunities in both government and non-government sectors for youth.
Free Covid vaccination for all and 19 lakh new jobs for youth in next five years were among some promises made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to Bihar residents in its manifesto or 'Sankalp Patra' during the state assembly elections.
The BJP, in its poll manifesto, had promised that if it returned to power in Bihar, the party would be providing free Covid-19 vaccine to every individual in
the state.
Unemployment was one of the major poll issues in the recently held Bihar Assembly Elections with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav announcing that if RJD-led grand alliance came to power, then he would provide 10 lakh government job to unemployed youth in the state.
Tejashwi Yadav had further said that he would take the decision to provide 10 lakh jobs to unemployed youth of Bihar in his first cabinet meeting.
As a counter to Tejaswi Yadav's big election promise, the BJP declared that the party will create 19 lakh job opportunities for the unemployed youth in various sectors.
However, in Tuesday's cabinet meeting, it was decided that 20 lakh job opportunities will be created for the youth.
