Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will visit Muzaffarpur today to take stock of the situation due to the outbreak of Encephalitis. 

Mr Kumar, along with Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi would meet patients and review the medical facilities available in SKMCH and Kejriwal Hospitals. 

The Chief Minister yesterday chaired a high-level meeting at Patna in which he ordered several steps to be taken to contain the disease. 

"Chief Minister has asked officials to ensure 100 percent coverage of toilets and drinking water facilities, fortify



health-related amenities in AES affected villages. The state government has set up a special team which will study the social background, malnutrition and sanitation-related aspects of victim’s families. 

It will also evaluate the economic condition of affected villages and the source of income of parents of children. In the state, 129 children lost their lives due to the worst outbreak of Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES) in this summer season. 104 deaths have been reported in Muzaffarpur alone, 15 in Vaishali and 10 in East Champaran among 12 AES affected districts.
