Bihar govt decides to deploy additional doctors to provide better treatment to encephalitis affected children
Bihar government has decided to deploy additional doctors at Sri Krishna Medical College Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur to provide better treatment to encephalitis affected children. Chief Secretary of Bihar Deepak Kumar yesterday said doctors from Darbhanga and Patna Medical College Hospital would be mobilized to SKMCH, Muzaffarpur to assist group of doctors there.
In Muzaffarpur hospital, 34 doctors are already pressed into the treatment of encephalitis affected children along with experts and
pediatricians from AIIMS, ICMR and other institutions. This was decided in a high level review meeting at Muzaffarpur chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He took stock of the situation due to AES.
He said the 50 years old SKMCH would be renovated and upgraded into 2500 bed hospital which has presently 610 beds. Briefing about slew of decision taken in the meeting Chief Secretary said extensive ORS (Oral Re-hydration Solution) distribution campaign will be run in all households of AES affected area. Chief Minister ordered officials to step up several preventive measures.
