The Bihar government has suspended Muzaffarpur Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Vivek Kumar after the Special Vigilance Unit's raid at his residence. A notification regarding suspension the 2007 batch IPS officer, was issued by state Home department.
Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) officials had seized over 5 lakh Rs in
cash, jewellery and 45,000 Rs in old currency notes from his residence. He was accused of having amassed assets three times more than his known sources of income. IG SVU Ratan Sanjay said an FIR was lodged against Vivek Kumar on April 15 with Special Vigilance Unit police station.
