The Bihar Health Department has decided to offer MBBS course to medical students in Hindi as a medium of instruction. The facility will be available in all 21 medical colleges located in Bihar including 10 state government and two Central government run institutions. State Health Minister Mangal Pandey said it will be implemented from the upcoming academic session starting this year.
Mr. Pandey said Bihar will become the second state in the country after Madhya Pradesh to provide facility of medical studies in Hindi language. The provision will be come into
force on the basis of recommendation of a state committee who had studied the current system of teaching medical courses in Hindi in Madhya Pradesh Mr. Pandey said the government has examined all required things including the availability of Hindi textbooks and faculty for the MBBS course in Hindi. Students will have the option to study in Hindi or English medium.
The State Health Minister said the idea behind the move is to simplify medical education and encourage meritorious students from Hindi medium backgrounds.
