The fate of 3,755 candidates who contested the Bihar Assembly election will be decided on Tuesday when it will become clear who forms the next government in Bihar: incumbent Chief Minister Nitish Kumar or his challenger Tejashwi Yadav.
Exit poll results including the most credible of all as past track record, the India Today-Axis My India’s, anticipated that Bihar is on the cusp of a generational transition in politics. Sixty-nine-year-old Nitish Kumar-led alliance was predicted in the exit polls to be exiting from power in Bihar and 31-year-old Tejashwi Yadav is the new son rising in the state, which will celebrate sun-worshipping brand-festival of Chhath in 10 days from now.
Tejashwi Yadav’s father Lalu Prasad and mother Rabri Devi were Bihar chief ministers for 15
years before Nitish Kumar handed their Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) a resounding defeat 15 years ago in 2005.
But whether the exit polls were accurate or not will become clear by Tuesday noon. The counting of votes will take place at 55 centres, set up by the Election Commission, across 38 districts of Bihar.
The Election Commission has made arrangements for a smooth counting process in Bihar. Jawans of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have been deployed at the strongrooms, where the EVMs were deposited on the completion of the three-phased election for Bihar Assembly.
Bihar went to assembly polls in three phases on October 28, November 3 and November 7 in all 243 constituencies. Over 57 per cent of around 12 crore voters exercised their franchise.
