Bihar government has sought an assistance of over 3,328 crore from the centre on account of floods in 16 districts of the state. A memorandum to this effect was handed over to the central team. The team had visited flood affected areas of the state and assessed the extent of damage.
The memorandum incorporates details of damage to crops, houses, damaged roads and other items. A six member inter
ministerial team visited the worst affected districts of Darbhanga, Muzaffarpur and Bhagalpur.
Meanwhile, over 83 lakh 62 thousand people spread over 1,333 panchayats of 16 districts are reeling under the impact of floods. 21 teams of NDRF and SDRF are carrying out relief and rescue operations. Over five lakh 50 thousand people have been evacuated so far.
